Lamu:Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed arrived in Kenya this morning for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Lamu Petroleum Refinery, a significant project in the region.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the Lamu Petroleum Refinery is backed by the Dangote Group and marks a substantial expansion of energy infrastructure in East Africa. Located along the Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) corridor, the facility will process crude oil and distribute refined petroleum products such as petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel to neighboring markets.
The refinery is expected to enhance energy security and strengthen trade links across East Africa once it becomes operational.
