Addis ababa: Resolving differences through national dialogue will open a new chapter for Ethiopia, Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Workneh Gebeyehu, said.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, addressing the Ethiopian National Dialogue Conference today, the Executive Secretary stated that this historic dialogue will mark a new era in Ethiopia's long-standing history. He emphasized that no country has ever thrived through conflict, highlighting the importance of prioritizing national interests through open discussions.

Workneh remarked that nations achieving success have done so by listening and engaging in dialogue, underlining that differences are best resolved peacefully. He noted that Ethiopia is not a nascent nation but a land with one of the most ancient civilizations, possessing profound reconciliation mechanisms.

The traditional problem-solving methods, Workneh remarked, are crucial tools that can aid in healing Ethiopia's internal conflicts. He emphasized that solutions should be sought internally, leveraging Ethiopia's rich heritage of reconciliation instead of seeking external assistance.

The national dialogue presents an opportunity for Ethiopians to showcase their ability to resolve differences through dialogue and mutual respect. Workneh concluded by affirming that Ethiopia's future will be shaped through dialogue, urging all parties to embrace this approach while reaffirming IGAD's steadfast support for Ethiopia in this pivotal journey.
