Addis ababa: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended his congratulations to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and the Prosperity Party on their victory in Ethiopia’s general election.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Anwar shared his congratulations in a Facebook post, where he also reminisced about his visit to Addis Ababa last year. This visit was notable as the first by a Malaysian prime minister. During his visit, Anwar noted the warm welcome he received and highlighted the meaningful discussions he had with Abiy.
Anwar expressed that both leaders shared similar perspectives on global issues, particularly emphasizing the potential benefits for countries in the Global South through equitable cooperation. He further described Ethiopia as a key partner in Malaysia’s efforts to engage with Africa.
Anwar concluded his post by expressing his eagerness to continue and build upon the initiatives that were set in motion during his visit to Ethiopia last year.
