House of People’s Representatives Approves 22 New Federal Cabinet Ministers

Hanoi:The House of People's Representatives, during its first regular session of the seventh tenure, has formally approved the appointment of 22 federal cabinet ministers as proposed by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, these appointments followed a rigorous evaluation process that considered the candidates' educational qualifications, professional experience, and proven execution capacity. The selection also prioritized fair gender, ethnic, and religious representation and a commitment to advancing public service and protecting national interests for the more than 54 million citizens who participated in the June 1 General Election.

The newly approved cabinet ministers include Temesgen Tiruneh as Deputy Prime Minister, Gideon Timothewos (PhD) as Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Addisu Arega as Minister of Agriculture. Other key appointments are Fitsum Assefa (PhD) as Minister of Finance, Mohammed Idris as Minister of Defense, and Professor Birhanu Nega as Minister of Education. The list continues with Hanna Araya-selassie as Minister of Justice and Yasmin Wahabrebbi as Minister of Trade and Regional Integration, among others.

This new cabinet is expected to focus on enhancing public service and addressing national priorities, reflecting the diverse and democratic choices of the electorate.
