Siena:Ethiopian Flag Day celebrates the unity and national consensus symbolized by the national flag, according to Bikila Hurissa, Coordinator for Democratic System Building with the rank of Minister.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the 19th National Flag Day is being celebrated under the theme "Our Flag for National Consensus and Unity," with the national flag prominently displayed at government institutions, Ethiopian embassies, and on Ethiopian ships.
The Prosperity Party Head Office marked the occasion with the presence of senior party leaders and staff. Bikila Hurissa, speaking at the event, highlighted that the national flag represents a shared identity that unites Ethiopians across diverse cultural, religious, and linguistic communities.
He emphasized that the celebration should remind citizens of their responsibility to preserve Ethiopia's independence and sovereignty, a legacy safeguarded by past generations. Bikila paid tribute to the sacrifices of Ethiopia's ancestors, noting their role in preserving the nation's independence and contributing to its current standing.
He also stressed the importance of recognizing the ongoing efforts required to protect the country's sovereignty in all areas. Bikila called on citizens to take action by building a nation that achieves economic sovereignty, overcomes poverty, and secures lasting prosperity.
Bikila urged for collective effort across all sectors to increase productivity, lift Ethiopia out of poverty, and build a self-sufficient economy capable of meeting its needs and supporting others. He concluded that such unified action would help safeguard Ethiopia's sovereignty and ensure that the national flag continues to fly high.
