Burundi’s President and AU Chairperson Congratulates PM Abiy Election Victory

Addis ababa: President Évariste Ndayishimiye of Burundi and Chairperson of the African Union has congratulated Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and the ruling Prosperity Party on their victory in Ethiopia’s parliamentary elections. In a congratulatory message shared on his X page, Ndayishimiye stated that the election outcome reflects the confidence and trust the Ethiopian people have placed in the leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to steer the country toward lasting peace, stability, and sustained economic growth.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the African Union Chairperson noted that Ethiopia, as the historic host nation of the African Union, plays a pivotal role in advancing the continent’s shared aspirations. He emphasized that a strong, united, and prosperous Ethiopia remains essential to the success of Africa’s broader development and integration agenda.

Ndayishimiye also reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening cooperation with Ethiopia in key areas, including regional integration, democratic g
overnance, and the promotion of African-led solutions to African challenges. Highlighting the importance of continued partnership, he expressed confidence that Ethiopia and the African Union would continue working together to foster a more peaceful, prosperous, and united Africa.
