Yaound©: Ethiopia and the United States have held discussions about expanding bilateral trade and enhancing the trade balance to further strengthen their long-standing economic cooperation, according to Trade and Regional Integration Minister Kassahun Gofe.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the Ethiopian delegation in Yaound©, Cameroon, engaged in discussions with Ambassador Joseph Barloon, Deputy USTR and Permanent Representative of the United States to the WTO. The talks centered around the growing bilateral trade, which is projected to reach approximately USD 1.5 billion in 2024, and explored ways to further expand and balance this trade relationship.
Minister Kassahun highlighted Ethiopia's appreciation for its relationship with the United States, acknowledging significant potential for deeper cooperation, particularly in trade and investment. He also reiterated Ethiopia's commitment to expediting its WTO accession process, with both parties agreeing to conclude bilateral market access negotiations promptly.
