Ahmed Shide noted that the HPR holds the legal responsibility to organize and oversee the National Flag Day celebrations. He emphasized that the flag's values should inspire renewed dedication to the nation's development and civilization, urging citizens to reflect patriotism through sacrifices and dedication to the country's advancement.
Ethiopia's diverse languages and cultures, built on a shared history, were highlighted by Ahmed as a testament to unity through diversity, with the national flag symbolizing this harmonious coexistence. The annual observance serves as an opportunity to reaffirm solidarity among Ethiopia's diverse communities.
The event included an oath-taking ceremony led by Federal Supreme Court President Tewodros Mihret, followed by the raising of the national flag by President Taye Atske-Selassie. National Flag Day is observed on the first Monday of Tikimt, corresponding to October, across various regions and institutions, promoting patriotism and respect for the sovereign symbol.
