Over 1700 traffic offenses recorded in 1 month

The Ministry of Transport said 1769 road offenses were detected thanks to the ongoing special road safety campaign launched in July.Minister Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe on August 6, 2024, revealed that the most common of these offenses are overspeeding, overlapping of the continuous line, wrong overtaking, overloading, and failure to wear seat belts. Of the 3 442 cars stopped during this period, 1 769 traffic offenses were detected by the technical team of the Ministry of Transport in collaboration with forces of Law and order.To this effect, more than 175 driving licenses were withdrawn, four precautionary suspensions slammed on interurban transport Agencies, and the payment of fines to the National treasury.The minister however frowns at the stubbornness of some road users who continue to behave recklessly causing accidents despite the repressive measures.Minister Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe in promising his involvement in the second phase of the road safety campaign, has instructed the intensific ation of control and repressive operations by competent authorities to ensure a peaceful back to school.Source: Cameroon News Agency
