Medemer Philosophy Highlighted as Key to African Prosperity by Ethiopian Minister

Addis Ababa:Ethiopia’s Medemer philosophy has been identified as a significant framework for fostering collective capabilities among African nations, aiming to drive national transformation and achieve shared prosperity. This was articulated by Bikila Hurisa, Coordinator for Democratic System Building with the rank of Minister at the Office of the Prime Minister, during the Second African Political Parties Summit in Addis Ababa.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Bikila emphasized that Medemer is fundamentally rooted in cooperation, unity, and synergy. He asserted that by embracing collective action, African countries could pool their resources and strengths to address common regional challenges and drive sustainable development across the continent.

Bikila elaborated that Medemer has served as the guiding principle behind Ethiopia’s political, economic, and social reforms over the past eight years. He noted that Ethiopia’s experience in implementing Medemer offers valuable insights for other African nations seeking to adapt its principles to their respective national contexts. The philosophy, he stated, could serve as a strong springboard for all African countries to emulate and customize to their practical realities.

Furthermore, Bikila highlighted that beyond strengthening bilateral and continental ties, realizing this vision requires political parties to prioritize citizens’ welfare over partisan differences. Reflecting on the summit’s theme, he emphasized the importance of governing for growth beyond electoral cycles and political power, advocating for collective prosperity and a shared future.

He also pointed out the importance of investing in Africa's youth, describing them as a promise for the continent's future. Empowering young people with clarity of thought and pragmatic approaches, Bikila concluded, will ensure that future generations inherit strong, united, productive, and prosperous African states.
