Addis Ababa:The 2026 Irreecha Forum in Addis Ababa is emphasizing the festival's role in promoting unity, togetherness, forgiveness, and reconciliation, according to Mayor Adanech Abiebie.According to Ethiopian News Agency, Mayor Adanech highlighted that Irreecha, celebrated under the theme 'Irreecha: For National Consensus!', carries significant value for national understanding. She stressed that if properly nurtured, Irreecha can contribute to Ethiopia's development and the preservation of unity.Mayor Adanech described Irreecha as a time of thanksgiving to God, fostering unity and reconciliation. She noted that the festival benefits everyone and can be celebrated as a shared holiday, reflecting on its values of togetherness and forgiveness.Expressing gratitude to the people of Addis Ababa, Mayor Adanech praised their hospitality in welcoming guests, which she sees as an embodiment of Irreecha's values. She wished for Irreecha to inspire peace, communication, and collective efforts to overcome challeng es and build a united Ethiopia.Irreecha, the Oromo thanksgiving festival, marks the transition to a new season following the rainy period. The 2026 celebrations are set for October 3-4, with major events at Hora Finfinnee in Addis Ababa and Hora Harsadii in Bishoftu.
