Institute of Ethiopian Standards Launches Quality Verifier Application

Addis ababa: The Institute of Ethiopian Standards (IES) has introduced a new application called IES Verifier, designed to identify standard marks for quality assurance. The launch of this application aims to enhance Ethiopia's foreign trade by ensuring product quality standards are met.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Trade and Regional Integration Minister and Board Chairman of IES, Kassahun Goffe, emphasized the potential of the IES Verifier to significantly bolster Ethiopia's trade system modernization efforts. The application provides an online platform for quality assurance, reflecting the progress made in recent reform years to ensure product excellence.

IES Director-General, Meseret Bekele, highlighted the application's role in enabling consumers to verify product quality online, reducing the risk of purchasing counterfeit goods. This digital innovation is expected to enhance the international competitiveness of Ethiopian products and services.

Reuben Gisore, Technical Director of the African Organization for Standardization (ARSO), remarked on the importance of national standards in the successful implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). He praised Ethiopia's efforts in maintaining national standards and urged other African countries to intensify their efforts to promote seamless trade across the continent.
