HR/VP Kallas to Engage in High-Level Talks in Ethiopia and Djibouti

Addis ababa: High Representative/Vice-President Kaja Kallas is set to embark on a significant diplomatic mission to Ethiopia and Djibouti from July 15 to 16. During her visit to Addis Ababa, she will engage in high-level discussions with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos.

According to European Union, Kallas's visit to Djibouti will include oversight of EU naval operations ASPIDES and ATALANTA. A key highlight of her visit will be the signing of the EU-Djibouti Status of Forces Agreement for Operation ASPIDES. This agreement will be formalized with Djibouti's Foreign Minister Abdoulkader Houssein Omar and Defence Minister Hassan Omar Mohamed Bourhan. Following the signing ceremony, Kallas is scheduled to deliver public remarks alongside Djibouti's foreign and defence ministers at approximately 14:30 CEST.

In addition to these engagements, the High Representative will also meet with Djibouti's Prime Minister Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed. The European Union has ensured that audiovisual coverage of Kallas's engagements will be available on EBS and X.
