FM Gedion and EU Foreign Policy Chief Discuss Ethiopia-EU Partnership

Addis ababa: Foreign Affairs Minister Gedion Timothewos held talks with the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, focusing on strengthening Ethiopia-EU relations.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, during the meeting, FM Gedion reaffirmed Ethiopia's commitment to its longstanding partnership with the European Union, stressing the country's readiness to further deepen bilateral ties and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest. He also provided updates on the Historic National Dialogue Conference, which officially opened in Addis Ababa today.

The FM mentioned that the national dialogue represents Ethiopia's dedication to addressing longstanding national challenges through an inclusive, transparent, and nationally led process aimed at building consensus, strengthening national unity, and promoting lasting peace.

Both parties reiterated their shared commitment to further enhancing the Ethiopia-EU partnership across all areas of cooperation. They also emphasized the significance of the upcoming Third Ethiopia-European Union Structured Dialogue as a crucial platform for advancing strategic engagement between the two partners.

Additionally, Gedion and Kallas exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest.
