Addis ababa: Chief of General Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF), Field Marshal Berhanu Jula, emphasized the inseparability of development and growth from reliable continental and regional peace.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Field Marshal Berhanu Jula held discussions with a delegation led by General Jºlio dos Santos Jane, Chief of the General Staff of the Mozambican Armed Forces (CGS). The talks aimed at enhancing the military cooperation agreement between Ethiopia and Mozambique. During the discussions, Field Marshal Berhanu highlighted the long-standing historical relations between the two nations, rooted in Pan-Africanism, unity, and resilience.
Field Marshal Berhanu noted that the relationship has recently reached a higher level, underscoring the importance of strengthening friendship-based relations for maintaining regional peace and security. He stated that economic growth and prosperity are unattainable without peace and security, and called for collaborative efforts against terrorism and in cyber security.
General Jºlio dos Santos Jane of Mozambique acknowledged the benefits of military cooperation with Ethiopia, which aids in ensuring regional peace. He highlighted the potential for gaining experience and expertise through collaboration in education and training.
Major General Teshome Gemechu, Director General of the Defense Foreign Relations and Military Cooperation Directorate, mentioned that the bilateral forum effectively implemented the previously signed military cooperation agreement. He noted that Ethiopia's commitment to regional peace attracts interest from various countries, including Mozambique, in military cooperation.
