Addis Ababa:Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has announced the formal handover of recommendations from Ethiopia's National Dialogue to the House of People's Representatives, the Federal Government, and Regional Governments.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the Prime Minister stated that he personally attended and oversaw the handover process, describing it as a significant milestone in the ongoing National Dialogue process within the country.
The handover signifies a shift from national discussions to institutional review of the recommendations, which were developed with input from a wide range of Ethiopian society. The dialogue process achieved consensus on eight thematic pillars, which were harmonized into a set of consolidated recommendations.
The initiative was designed to integrate various perspectives on critical national issues and to foster mutual understanding. Prime Minister Abiy emphasized that this development affirms Ethiopia's dedication to tackling longstanding issues through inclusive dialogue, peaceful discussion, and nationally developed solutions.
The National Dialogue has been portrayed as a means to resolve deep-seated national issues through consensus, moving away from confrontational approaches. Previously, Prime Minister Abiy highlighted the process as an opportunity to address persistent political challenges and to contribute to forming a new, inclusive national social contract.
The Ethiopian National Dialogue Conference wrapped up in August following 40 days of deliberations involving 4,000 participants, covering a range of topics.
