Ethiopia to Launch Seventh National Cybersecurity Month

Abu Dhabi:Ethiopia is set to observe its seventh National Cybersecurity Month from October 11 to November 9, 2026, with a focus on raising public awareness of cyber threats and promoting safer digital practices.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the Information Network Security Administration (INSA) announced that this year's observance will carry the theme 'An Active Citizen for a Secure Country.' INSA Director-General Tigist Hamid highlighted the rapid expansion of technology and the accompanying increase in cyberattacks targeting individuals, institutions, and critical infrastructure.

Tigist emphasized the importance of building widespread cybersecurity awareness to help citizens and organizations understand threats and implement protective measures. A significant focus of this year's campaign will be online child protection, aiming to educate families and youth about internet risks.

Activities planned for the month include youth-oriented competitions and discussion forums on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Tigist reiterated INSA's dedication to protecting the nation's digital space and called for a collective effort to strengthen cybersecurity resilience.

She also encouraged both public and private sectors to organize employee awareness programs, stressing that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility. INSA confirmed that preparations for the campaign's rollout are complete.

Globally, this marks the 23rd year of cybersecurity awareness observance, and the seventh consecutive year in Ethiopia.
