The event marked a significant step in reaffirming Thailand's commitment to enhancing economic cooperation and strengthening business-to-business relationships with Ethiopia. The focus was on creating new trade and investment opportunities and fostering mutually beneficial business partnerships.
According to African Press Organization, the Advisor to the Minister highlighted the complementary economic potentials of Thailand and Ethiopia. It was noted that Ethiopia could serve as a gateway to East African markets, while Thailand could provide access to markets and supply chains in Southeast Asia. This business initiative is part of the Thailand - Africa Initiative (TAI), which aims to build long-term partnerships between Thailand and African nations, enhancing economic ties and connectivity.
The event was a segment of a Thai business delegation's market exploration mission to Nigeria and Ethiopia. Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the mission aims to create new business opportunities for the Thai private sector, aligning with the Ministry's Economic Diplomacy strategy.
During the event, Thai and Ethiopian businesses engaged with potential partners in sectors such as banking and finance, agriculture and food processing, chemicals and construction materials, security technology and equipment, and energy. These interactions aim to advance business cooperation and partnerships between the two nations.
Additionally, the delegation visited the AMG Gelan Industrial Park to explore potential business opportunities in agro-processing, steel, energy, and real estate development.
