Addis ababa: Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh launched the third national "Clean Ethiopia for the Next Generations" Campaign, urging nationwide efforts towards a cleaner, healthier, and greener Ethiopia. The Deputy PM emphasized environmental stewardship as central to the nation's sustainable development agenda.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the initiative aims to renew Ethiopia's collective commitment to environmental protection through coordinated actions that enhance cleanliness, sustainability, and civic responsibility. Temesgen highlighted that issues like plastic waste and environmental pollution are multifaceted challenges affecting public health, economic productivity, tourism, investment, and long-term development prospects.

The Deputy PM stressed that the campaign is crucial for securing the nation's future by improving quality of life and enhancing economic competitiveness. This year's campaign aligns with Ethiopia's Green Legacy Initiative, corridor development program, and riverbank rehabilitation efforts, demonstrating the government's dedication to integrating environmental protection with urban transformation and climate resilience.

Temesgen described the campaign as a results-oriented movement focused on measurable outcomes, institutional accountability, and lasting behavioral change. He called for broad public participation, urging government institutions, the private sector, civil society, religious institutions, local communities, and citizens nationwide to contribute to the campaign's success.

Highlighting the importance of collective action, the Deputy Prime Minister remarked that Ethiopia's enduring legacy should extend beyond economic prosperity to include a clean, green, healthy, and sustainable environment. Concluding his message, Temesgen called on Ethiopians to unite in preserving the natural environment and ensuring a sustainable and economically resilient future for the country.
