Toronto:An international coffee expo in Toronto has brought together Ethiopian coffee exporters and Canadian buyers, aiming to expand the bilateral coffee trade and explore new market opportunities.According to Ethiopian News Agency, the event was organized by the Embassy of Ethiopia in Canada and included Ethiopian coffee exporters, Canadian coffee importers, business leaders, industry experts, and diplomats. The expo intended to promote Ethiopia's coffee sector and develop stronger business-to-business partnerships.Ethiopian Ambassador to Canada Tewodros Girma, in his opening remarks, pointed out that despite Ethiopia's immense coffee potential, direct trade with Canada is still limited when considering the size and capacity of the Canadian market. He emphasized the strong demand for coffee in Canada and the global reputation of Ethiopian coffee, advocating for more direct connections between Ethiopian exporters and Canadian buyers.Anna Mancini, representing the Coffee Association of Canada, highlight ed the significant potential of the Canadian coffee market. She expressed the association's readiness to collaborate with Ethiopian exporters, aiming to deepen cooperation and explore new opportunities.The expo served as a platform for direct trade networking, enabling Ethiopian exporters to engage with Canadian importers and industry stakeholders to expand Ethiopia's coffee presence in the Canadian market.In a press release sent to ENA, the Ethiopian Embassy in Canada noted that this initiative underscores growing efforts to convert Ethiopia's globally recognized coffee heritage into stronger direct trade links and expanded access to international markets.
