ADDIS ABABA: Ethiopia's Federal Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institute and China's Tianjin University of Technology and Education have formalized a new level of cooperation aimed at advancing technical and vocational education through a recently signed memorandum of understanding. The agreement seeks to enhance collaboration in areas such as experience sharing, technology transfer, and capacity building, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence and engineering practice.According to Ethiopian News Agency, the signing ceremony followed a visit by Wu Yan, China's Education Vice Minister, to the Ethiopian institute. During the visit, Wu Yan, along with his delegation, inspected the institute's infrastructure and noted significant progress, particularly in the application of industrial robot technology for university students. The Chinese delegation underscored the importance of China's support and involvement in the development and capacity building of the Ethiopian institution.Th e memorandum of understanding, signed by Bruk Kedir, Director General of Ethiopia's Federal Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institute, and Zhang Jingang, Chairman of Tianjin University of Technology and Education, aims to promote multi-level cooperation in engineering practice and innovation certification. The agreement is set to benefit East African technical and vocational education teachers, students, and trainees, especially those engaged in artificial intelligence courses.The partnership further seeks to address curriculum development, scientific research, and project advancements. The ceremony was attended by Ethiopia's Labor and Skills Minister, Muferihat Kamil, highlighting the bilateral commitment to strengthening educational ties and fostering mutual growth in technical and vocational training sectors.
