Addis ababa: Political parties' representatives at the National Dialogue Conference have indicated that they are engaging in constructive discussions aimed at fostering consensus on fundamental national issues and building a better Ethiopia.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission initiated the national conference on July 15, 2026, which has brought together over 4,000 delegates from across the nation and abroad. Representatives of the National Movement of Amhara (NaMA) and the Kucha People's Democratic Party have emphasized the significance of the conference in establishing a new culture of dialogue in Ethiopia.
The dialogue conference is progressing in a peaceful and participatory manner, prioritizing the supremacy of ideas and minimizing personal and group interests to put national issues at the forefront, the representatives elaborated. Tahir Mohammed of the NaMA party highlighted that the conference is paving the way for Ethiopia to move towards a brighter future through meaningful dialogue.
Major and sub-agendas proposed by the national dialogue conference are being discussed in an inclusive manner, allowing participants to engage freely. Tahir Mohammed pointed out that the conference serves as a valuable platform to address Ethiopia's fundamental and structural challenges by fostering consensus through idea supremacy.
Kucha People's Democratic Party President, Genene Gerebu, noted that the open forum allows public agendas to be freely expressed, facilitating mutual understanding among participants. The dialogue conference aims to ensure that long-standing disputes are resolved, preventing them from being passed down to future generations, he added, citing the exemplary nature of the free dialogues taking place.
