Addis Ababa: China has announced at the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), to give 33 African countries zero-tariff treatment for 100 percent tariff lines.Ethiopia, origin for both humanity and coffee, is anticipated to benefit from this China's market opportunities, according to the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia.Ethiopia which is also abundant in high-quality coffee, the Partnership Action for Trade Prosperity further taps potential of the country's coffee and other export commodities.Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged on Thursday that his country is going to give all the least developed countries having diplomatic relations with China, including 33 African countries, zero-tariff treatment for 100 percent tariff lines.China will voluntarily and unilaterally open its market wider, Xi said in a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).The move makes China the first major developing country and the first major economy to take such a step and will help turn China's big market into Africa's big opportunity, Xi noted, Xinhua reported.Source: Ethiopian News Agency
