Accra – The National House of Chiefs (NHC) has contributed GHC100,000.00 to aid victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage flood. The donation was presented by Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, President of the House, at a ceremony in the studios of Peace FM in Accra, as reported by Mr. Stephen Owusu, the Public Relations Officer of the House.
According to Ghana News Agency, the contribution symbolizes the empathy and support of Ghana's traditional leaders towards those affected by the natural disaster.
In the statement, Ogyeahoho Gyebi commended the media for highlighting the plight of the flood victims and described the donation as the chiefs' collective contribution to mitigating the sufferings in the affected communities. He emphasized that members of the House are in regular contact with their counterparts in the flood-impacted areas, expressing hope for a swift return to normalcy. The donation ceremony was attended by notable figures including Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu VIII, Breman Asikumahene, Nana Mprah Besumuna III, Krachiwura, and Mr. Anthony Yeboah Tabiri, Registrar of the House. This gesture underlines the ongoing efforts by Ghana's traditional leadership to provide relief and support in times of national crises.
