VOLTA REGION — In a notable outcome of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong has been endorsed by the majority of delegates in the Central, North, and South Tongu constituencies of the Volta Region, surpassing Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the vote count.
According to Ghana News Agency, Agyapong secured 1,131 votes against Bawumia's 901. Detailed results from South Tongu showed Agyapong leading with 427 votes, while Bawumia followed with 355. In Central Tongu, Agyapong narrowly won with 271 votes to Bawumia's 266. North Tongu reported a more comfortable lead for Agyapong at 433 votes to 280 for Bawumia. Observers noted the unexpected reactions from Bawumia's supporters as the results were announced. The Electoral Officer for South Tongu confirmed the peaceful nature of the primaries.
