The Israeli air force has intensified its operations in the Gaza Strip, reportedly striking around 450 targets in the past 24 hours.
According to Ghana News Agency, the targets included tunnels, military installations, and launching pads for anti-tank missiles. During these air strikes, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that they had also engaged in a ground operation, taking over a military complex and eliminating several members of Hamas, which is classified as a terrorist organization by the European Union and the United States. Observation posts, training areas, and tunnels were among the facilities targeted in the raid. However, these claims have not been independently verified.
In addition to the air strikes, the Israeli navy conducted attacks on various Hamas facilities, including command centers, anti-tank missile launching posts, and observation posts. The military operations resulted in the death of Hamas member Jamal Mussa, who was reportedly responsible for 'special security operations' and had previously conducted a shooting attack against Israeli soldiers in 1993.
The current escalation in violence began following an attack launched by Hamas from the Gaza Strip against Israel on October 7, which led to the deaths of 1,400 individuals, primarily civilians, and the taking of approximately 240 hostages. In response, Israel initiated a retaliatory bombing campaign targeting Hamas, which has reportedly resulted in at least 9,770 Palestinian casualties in Gaza, as per figures provided by the Hamas-run Health Ministry.
