Sunyani – A tragic road accident on the Sunyani-Berekum Highway has resulted in the death of five people.
According to Ghana News Agency, the incident took place around 1400 hours on Monday. The collision involved a taxi cab, registered as BA GT 5591-12, traveling towards Nsoatre, and an unregistered private salon car from the opposite direction.
The crash led to the instant death of all five individuals in the taxi, including the driver. Meanwhile, the driver of the private car, who was its sole occupant, sustained critical injuries.
When GNA reporters arrived at the scene, they observed Police and Fire Service personnel conducting recovery operations. The bodies, yet to be identified, were retrieved and taken to a local mortuary for preservation and identification purposes.
A police source at the scene informed GNA that an investigation into the accident had been initiated to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
