Addis Ababa - The Ministry of Finance of Ethiopia and the government of Ireland formalized a financing agreement today, committing 8.4 million Euros in support of Ethiopia’s Productive Safety Net Program (PSNP), Health-focused Sustainable Development Goals, and the Homegrown Economic Reform.
According to the Ethiopia News Agency,, Ahmed Shide, Ethiopia’s Minister of Finance, and Ireland’s State Minister for International Development and the Diaspora, Sean Fleming, signed the agreement in the Ethiopian capital. Minister Ahmed noted that the three targeted initiatives align with the Ethiopian government’s key priorities.
State Minister Fleming emphasized Ireland's commitment to funding strategic national programs aimed at extending social protection and healthcare services, particularly to women and children in Ethiopia.
The Ethiopian Finance Minister expressed gratitude for Ireland's long-standing financial contributions to the specified programs, which have totaled more than 200 million Euros over the past decades. Minister Ahmed also highlighted the rejuvenated spirit of cooperation between Ethiopia and the Republic of Ireland.
The signing ceremony was part of Irish State Minister Sean Fleming's working visit to Ethiopia.
