Vice President Bawumia Clinches NPP Candidacy with Decisive Primary Win

ACCRA — Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has emerged victorious in the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primary, solidifying his position as the party’s candidate for the 2024 General Election.

According to Ghana News Agency, Bawumia garnered 118,210 votes, translating to 61.43 percent of total valid votes, outperforming his closest competitor, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who received 37.41 percent of the votes. Other candidates in the race, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Mr. Francis Adai Nimo, secured 0.75 and 0.41 percent of the votes respectively. The primaries witnessed the participation of over 204,000 delegates at 275 polling stations nationwide. Prior to the official result announcement, Bawumia’s supporters commenced celebrations based on the provisional outcomes.
