Stable Peace Boosts Development Activities in Somali Region: Communication Bureau

Addis Ababa: The stable peace in Somali Region has accelerated development works across various sectors, speaking to ENA Communication Bureau Head Mohammed Aden noted that the past few years have seen encouraging progress in peace, development, and good governance.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, this positive development is evident in key areas such as education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, and good governance. Mohammed Aden highlighted the significant growth in the agricultural sector, emphasizing efforts toward achieving food sovereignty through initiatives like summer wheat cultivation, rice farming, and fruit cultivation, which are yielding substantial results.

The region, previously known for drought and conflict, has succeeded in transforming into a developmental state by establishing peace, Mohammed elaborated. The bureau head explained that the progress has been encouraging pastoralists to transition to modern livestock farming, as well as crops and fruit cultivation.

Furthermore, encouraging efforts are underway in urban corridor and infrastructure development, with the corridor project that began in Jigjiga city being implemented successfully. Mohammed expressed the plan to complete the corridor development in a short period, urging investors to capitalize on the region’s stable peace, favorable investment environment, and efficient service.
