Some Westerners Attempt to Ascertain Interest by Pressuring Ethiopia

The attempts being made by some westerners countries to put undeserved pressure on Ethiopia under the disguise of international law are primarily aimed at realizing their national interest, according to a law scholar.

Law Lecturer at Gondar University, Lijalem Gashaw told ENA that many of the international laws are serving as tool to realize the interest of western countries.

He added that the international human rights law and humanitarian aid are serving as a disguise for westerns to ensure their national interest and benefit.

Thus, Lijalem hastened to say that the apparent pressure on Ethiopia emanates from similar purpose.

Currently things have been becoming clear that the UN and other international institutions established to guide international cooperation are also pursuing the interests of the West, he underscored.

According to him, some western countries never want the terrorist TPLF to be destroyed due to their strong desire to have their own puppet in a weakened Ethiopia that fulfills their needs and executes their orders.

They have openly been violating international law by meddling in Ethiopia’s sovereignty to bring the terrorist group from its grave and empower it, he pointed out.

Moreover, the scholar stated that some countries in the west were propagating last year’s invasion of the terrorist TPLF to the Northern Showa concluding it would capture Addis Ababa while providing it diplomatic support.

He said that the pressure that the Westerners are putting on Ethiopia under the guise of human rights, humanitarian aid and international law to save the terrorist group from the measures that the government is taking to safeguard sovereignty is unacceptable.

Ethiopia has maintained to safeguard its sovereignty despite the continuous pressure from global powerful countries due to its geopolitical importance in East Africa and will continue to do so, he emphasized.

It is inevitable that countries that have lost justice in the international arena might disassociate themselves from international institutions unless they stop to serve as the instrument to realize the interest of few, he emphasized.
