Presbyterian Church of Ghana Honors Outgoing Moderator Right Reverend Professor Mante

Accra – The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) held a Valedictory and Thanksgiving Service for Right Reverend Professor Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, the outgoing Moderator of the General Assembly. The service took place at the PCG Victory Congregation in Fafraha, near Adenta in Accra.

According to Ghana News Agency, the event saw the attendance of notable figures including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Chief of Staff Madam Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, ministers of Finance, Road, and National Security, Inspector General of Police George Akuffo Dampare, and various chiefs and dignitaries.

Right Reverend Professor Mante assumed his role as Moderator on December 1, 2018, following his tenure as President of the Trinity Theological Seminary. During the service, President Akufo-Addo praised Professor Mante for his significant contributions to the development of the country. He also urged the Church to continue praying for the nation's leadership and government.

Reflecting on his achievements, Professor Mante highlighted the 'Vision 1.5' initiative, under which the church expanded its membership to approximately 1.4 million. He also mentioned the construction of 285 pavilions across Ghana, which aimed to enhance collective worship and extend the church's influence. Another notable achievement was the construction of a suitable manse for the Moderator of the General Assembly and the introduction of responsible environmental practices among the congregations.

Professor Mante led the church in providing support to PCG ministers working in deprived and economically challenged communities. He noted the Presbyterian Church's significant contribution to the education sector in Ghana, boasting 2,500 basic schools, 36 senior high schools, and seven tertiary institutions.

In his farewell remarks, Professor Mante expressed gratitude for the support he received during his tenure. He encouraged Christians to maintain a strong relationship with God and emphasized the importance of corporate worship and personal spirituality for attaining greater heights.
