Plan International Ghana Provides Relief to Flood Victims in West Mamprusi Municipality

WEST MAMPRUSI MUNICIPALITY: Plan International Ghana, an independent humanitarian non-profit organization, has delivered relief items to flood victims in the Zanguga community in the West Mamprusi Municipality, North East Region. The aid, valued at GHS143,000.00, was distributed to 130 households affected by recent flooding.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Kamaldeen Yazeed Iddrisu, Programme Coordinator for Plan International Ghana, stated that the assistance was meant to alleviate the victims’ suffering. The North East Region, including West Mamprusi Municipality, experienced severe flooding two months ago, resulting in significant property and livelihood losses.

The relief package included aqua tabs for water purification, drinking water, mosquito nets and repellents, sanitary pads, diapers, soap, washing powder, and various food items. Mr. Iddrisu emphasized that the aid particularly targeted children and women, who are often the most vulnerable during disasters.

Mr. John Kweku Alhassan, North East Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation, expressed gratitude on behalf of the North East Regional Minister. He assured that the items would be distributed fairly among the victims, ensuring the intended impact of the donation.

Mr. Aziz Dingade, Assembly Member for Minima Electoral Area, representing the flood victims in Zanguga, thanked Plan International Ghana for their support. He expressed hope that the organization would continue to receive support to extend their assistance to other affected communities in the municipality.
