NPP Presidential Primary: Bawumia Secures Cape Coast South, Agyapong Takes North

CAPE COAST — In the tightly contested New Patriotic Party presidential primary, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia won the majority of votes in Cape Coast South, while Kennedy Ohene Agyapong triumphed in Cape Coast North.

According to Ghana News Agency, Bawumia received 307 out of the 574 votes cast in Cape Coast South. Agyapong, trailing closely, secured 262 votes. The other candidates, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Mr. Francis Addai-Nimo, received minimal support. In a contrasting result, Cape Coast North constituents favored Agyapong with 318 votes against Bawumia’s 268. The election processes in both areas were noted for their tranquility and the disciplined conduct of delegates, concluding without incident under the watchful presence of police security.
