Addis ababa: The Ethiopian Defense Forces Museum stands as the living archive of heroism and a proud testament to the nation's greatness, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh said. Following his visit to the Ethiopian Defense Forces Museum, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen noted that Ethiopia's enduring strength, tempered through centuries of trials, rests firmly on the unbreakable valor and sacrifice of its armed forces.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen stated that the historic museum was first envisioned in the 1950s but faced delays due to political circumstances. It has now been realized under the leadership of a reform-oriented administration, symbolizing a new chapter of national renewal. The museum, now established as a permanent institution, is intended to serve as the foundation for the future Grand National Defense Forces Museum.
The museum's collection includes rare pre-Adwa weaponry, imperial-era armor, and modern military artifacts that narrate the heroic legacy of Ethiopia's defenders. It traces the evolution of national defense institutions since 1900 E.C., showcasing the steady transformation of military technology and engineering progress that have shaped today's defense capabilities.
More than just a repository of artifacts, the museum equips members of the armed forces and future generations with history, knowledge, and inspiration. Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen emphasized that the Ethiopian Defense Forces are a source of national pride and a peacekeeping force respected beyond Ethiopia's borders.
