Ethiopian Airlines to Add Six New International Destinations

ADDIS ABABA: Ethiopian Airlines Group has announced plans to introduce six new international flight destinations in the coming months.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, the expansion is part of Ethiopian Airlines’ ongoing growth strategy, which includes acquiring new aircraft and extending its services. The airline’s international destinations currently tally at 136, and these additions are set to increase that number further. Among the upcoming destinations, flights to Madrid, Spain are scheduled to begin in the near future.

Yadecha also revealed that new routes to Freetown, Sierra Leone, Australia, Hanoi, Vietnam, Amsterdam, Holland, and North African destinations are in the pipeline for the coming months. This expansion aligns with Ethiopian Airlines’ Vision 2035, which aims to grow its destinations to 207 and increase its fleet to 271 aircraft. The strategy is focused on maintaining and enhancing the airline’s growth in the aviation industry.

This announcement follows a recent development where Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest aviation group, and Boeing, its longstanding partner, disclosed an agreement for the purchase of up to 67 jets. Signed at the Dubai Airshow, this agreement represents the most significant purchase of Boeing airplanes in African history, marking a major investment set to propel the airline into a new phase of growth.
