Ethiopian Airlines Boosts Operations with New Electric Power Substation

Addis Ababa — Ethiopian Airlines has taken a step forward in enhancing its service reliability with the launch of a new electric power substation, which promises consistent and dependable power supply to the carrier.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Mesfin Tassew, during the inauguration ceremony, the new facility is instrumental in ensuring the standard delivery of services. The substation boasts a capacity of 80 megawatts, sourced through two transformers connected to the Kotebe and Kaliti national grids.

Mesfin highlighted the strategic importance of the substation, which is designed to prevent the frequent power disruptions that have previously affected the airline’s operations. He stressed that the connection to the national grids is a significant improvement for the airline.

The CEO disclosed the financial details of the project, noting that the construction and installation of the substation incurred costs of 9 million USD. Additionally, Ethiopian Airlines has contributed 60 million birr in compensation and allocated 40 million birr towards corporate social responsibility initiatives within the Bole Sub-City area.

Ethiopian Airlines, noted for its rapid growth and status as the largest airline on the African continent, has marked seventy-seven years of operations. The carrier is recognized for its efficiency and operational success, making strides in the aviation industry both regionally and globally.
