Addis Ababa: Ethiopia has invited global investors to attend the upcoming "Invest in Ethiopia - High-Level Business Forum (HLBF)," scheduled for May 12-13, 2025, in Addis Ababa.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the Ethiopian Embassy in London participated in the UK-Africa Business Forum 2025, held on April 9, under the theme "Strengthening UK-Africa Trade, Investment, and Partnerships to Promote Sustainable Economic Growth." During the event, Deputy Head of Mission, Ambassador Lalisa Birhanu, delivered a keynote speech, highlighting Ethiopia's recent economic reform agenda, which prioritizes private sector-led growth as a strategic shift in the country's development model.
Ambassador Lalisa emphasized Ethiopia's commitment to economic liberalization, including the opening of the banking sector to foreign investors and the establishment of the Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX), the first stock exchange in over five decades. He addressed challenges in the financial sector, underlining the government's macroeconomic reform to ease foreign exchange shortages.
These reforms aim to improve the balance of payments, attract foreign direct investment, and boost exports. The Ambassador noted that the reforms focus on addressing longstanding economic constraints, enhancing productivity, and creating a more conducive environment for investment and private sector engagement.
Ambassador Lalisa also extended an invitation to all stakeholders to attend the upcoming "Invest in Ethiopia - High-Level Business Forum (HLBF)." Preparations are in full swing for the Invest In Ethiopia 2025 High-Level Business Forum, a landmark event set to convene over 1,000 participants from around the globe. Participants are expected to gain a clearer understanding of the country's economic opportunities and the government's commitment to creating a conducive investment environment.
