Ethiopia and Venezuela to Initiate Joint Ministerial Commission for Multilateral Cooperation
Addis Ababa – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen received Yvan Gil Pinto, the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in his office today for an extensive discussion on bilateral and multilateral matters.
According to the Ethiopia News Agency, both sides agreed on the need to deepen their historic relations. Demeke praised Venezuela for its consistent support at multilateral forums. Foreign Minister Pinto expressed Venezuela’s willingness to collaborate closely with Ethiopia in areas such as agriculture, tourism, energy, and health. He also extended an invitation to Ethiopian Airlines to commence operations to Venezuela.
Additionally, Minister Pinto mentioned that Venezuela is interested in offering scholarship opportunities to Ethiopian students. Both countries have agreed to initiate a Joint Ministerial Commission to further enhance collaboration, the ministry confirmed.
