Accra - Madam Gloria Bortele Noi, Director of Policy Planning and Monitoring at the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, has identified entrepreneurial-led initiatives as crucial solutions to job losses caused by climate change in Ghana. Speaking at the Youth Employment Entrepreneurship (YEE) Global Forum in Accra, organized by SNV Netherlands Development Organisation, she highlighted the impact of erratic rainfall patterns and higher temperatures on the agriculture sector.

According to Ghana News Agency, The Forum, in partnership with the European Union, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ghana, and the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, convened policymakers, international NGOs, youth organizations, and the private sector. The International Labour Organisation (ILO) estimates that 80 million jobs could be lost due to climate change by 2030. Madam Noi encouraged the youth to pursue entrepreneurial initiatives focused on environmental sustainability to combat the challenges posed by climate change. She also advised entrepreneurs to stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies, and to take advantage of government initiatives like the green job strategy.

Madam Barbara White Nkoala, Country Director for SNV, detailed SNV's role in promoting entrepreneurship, including the GrEEN project, which supports women, youth, and returned migrants in creating green jobs. Through the GrEEN project, SNV has organized job fairs and developed self-employment opportunities for over 3,500 individuals. Madam Marta Brignone, a representative of the European Union in Ghana, praised the businesses present at the forum for their contributions to the green economy sector.
