COMESA Business Women Federation Members Praise Ethiopians for Heritage Preservation
Addis Ababa: Participants of the COMESA Federation of Women in Business (COMFWB) Trade Fair and Conference held in Addis Ababa this week have praised Ethiopians for preserving the invaluable cultural and historical heritages of the country. The participants visited historical sites in Addis Ababa, including the renovated National Palace Museum, Adwa Victory Memorial Museum, and Enoto Park yesterday.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the Libyan COMFWB Chapter Chairperson, Ibtisam Hussein Ben Amer, expressed admiration for the cultural and historical artifacts of the renovated National Palace and Adwa Victory Memorial Museum. She appreciated the preservation efforts, noting the significance of maintaining the palace and its contents as part of Ethiopia’s history. She also mentioned the importance of the Adwa Memorial Museum and its depiction of historical events like the Italian Invasion of Ethiopia.
The Swati Secretary General, Sbongile Mthembu, also commended Ethiopians for their meticulous preservation of cultural artifacts and hospitality. She highlighted the contrast with other countries affected by war, where cultural heritage has been destroyed. Mthembu appreciated the efforts to maintain and display cultural assets, which help in telling the history of Ethiopia.
Ugandan COMFWB board member Aero Lillian Olok shared her enriching experience in Addis Ababa. She noted that her visits to the museums deepened her understanding of Africa’s struggle for independence and cultural preservation. Olok described Addis Ababa as rich in culture and historical backgrounds and valued the insight into how Africans liberated themselves from colonial rule while preserving their cultural identity.
