Africa’s Youngest Minister to Address Youth Entrepreneurial Summit at 2023 Volta Fair
Ho, Ghana – The sixth edition of the Volta Trade and Investment Fair, set to take place in Ho, Ghana, will feature a special appearance by one of Africa’s youngest Ministers of State, Ms. Emma Inamutila Theofelus. Ms. Theofelus, who serves as the Deputy Minister of ICT of the Republic of Namibia and is also a Member of Parliament (MP), will be the keynote speaker at the youth entrepreneurial summit, an integral part of the two-week fair.
According to Ghana News Agency, the event’s organizers, Ms. Theofelus’s participation comes at their invitation. During her visit to the Volta Region, scheduled for December 2, 2023, she will address the 2nd Volta Young Entrepreneurs Summit in Ho. Her itinerary also includes courtesy calls on local traditional rulers and visits to various tourism sites in the region.
This year’s fair, themed ‘Leveraging the African Continental Free Trade Area for Local Economic Development’, is organized in collaboration with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat and Ghana’s tourism authority. The event is expected to attract over 400 exhibitors from countries including Kenya, Namibia, and those neighboring Ghana, with attendance anticipated to be in the tens of thousands.
Mr. Dela Gadzanku, Chairman of the AGI in the Eastern Volta and Oti Regions, expressed gratitude for Ms. Theofelus’s participation, noting the potential impact of her visit on the region’s youth, especially girls. The fair, taking place at the Ho Sports Stadium from November 26 to December 10, will feature various forums, conferences, and business promotion initiatives. Key supporters of the event include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ministry of Railway Development, National Coordinating Office of the AfCFTA, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Ghana Free Zones Authority, Kenyan Export Promotion and Branding Agency, and the Volta Development Forum. Sponsors for the event are notable institutions such as Ghana Exim Bank, Bank of Ghana, Absa Bank, GOIL, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Stanbic Bank, ADB, and Kenya Airways.
