Accra Hearts of Oak Dismiss Coach Martinus Koopman After Disappointing Start to Season

Accra – Accra Hearts of Oak, a prominent Ghanaian premier league football team, has announced the dismissal of their Head Coach, Martinus Koopman, following a series of unsatisfactory results. The team has experienced a challenging start to the season, securing only 12 points from a possible 30, which has placed them in the 11th position on the league table.

According to Ghana News Agency, the decision to part ways with Coach Martinus Koopman is part of a broader strategy to restructure the technical team during the ongoing 2023-24 football season. The club expressed its intention to make changes in response to the team’s current performance and future aspirations.

In the interim, Coach Abdul Rahim Bashiru, who has been serving as the Assistant Coach, will take over the responsibilities of the Head Coach. This move is intended to ensure continuity and stability within the team during this transition period.

The management of Accra Hearts of Oak extended their gratitude to Coach Martinus Koopman for his service and wished him success in his future endeavors. During his tenure with the team, the Dutch coach secured two wins, six draws, and suffered two defeats. This record, while reflecting some successes, was not sufficient to meet the club’s expectations for the season.
